When adding a video to your course, you must first decide if you want the video to be stored in the course content, contained in the course package itself, or use a streaming video service. Streaming video is for videos that have been placed on a streaming server. The reason for doing this is to limit the amount of lag time on the video. With streaming video the server does most of the work, so the delay is minimal. Whereas with non-streaming the video has to buffer before it plays. Here you will see the option for Streaming Video.

We corrected an issue with the Text and Video page that was causing the audio controls to disappear in certain situations. The latest release of Rapid Intake came out on the 29th of October. In this release there was a total of 7 fixes and enhancements for desktop courses. Here is the list and discription of what has been done. An enhancement was made to the Popup Interaction page to help it function within secure browsers and networks. The issue of the phantom scroll bar that would appear when a large image was included in the Text and Image page has been fixed. This has now been fixed.

Last night on VH1, our client DoSomething.org aired their annual awards ceremony – honoring not just socially responsible celebrities, but also young people who are taking action in their communities. And like just about everything DoSomething does, the Awards show had text messages integrated seamlessly throughout the event. Teenagers were given a variety of options to text in and get involved – whether they wanted to attend the event, to find out more from the celebrities attending, or to get involved with DoSomething in their communities.

As we start using services like webex and adobe connect for web conferencing on the phone, and face time and Skype for video calls, doing synchronous learning on mobile devices is certainly an option. As you probably already know, last week we kicked off our independent webinar series with the first one titled as ‘No Escaping Mobile Learning’ which I co-presented with Abhijit Kadle (watch recording here ). m very pleased with the response we got on this – 400 registrations and 136 actual attendees. And there is of course iBooks 2 which does enable video integration in eBooks but also 3D models etcetera, but what I am looking for is a cross platform solution. Luckily, I came across ePubInClassroom (which features a nice overview of ePub options) and that was where I found a link to Calibre, which has indeed video integration (hooray!). Calibre uses a straightforward video tutorial to get you up to speed. BUT, the video is not mentioned. can use any help you might have. not worth the time investment.

The idea is quite simple really – anyone can create and upload a step-by-step guide using text, photos, and videos for a particular task/topic then others can search and find a relevant guide when they need one. We’re currently implementing a solution for a large cleaning products company in Europe which will be making how-to-videos for its products available to its staff on mobile devices using Upside Learning’s mobile learning platform. I stumbled across this article at Gigaom.com talking about how Snapguide is trying to be the how to guide for everything – on your mobile.

But before heading to the video, David Metcalf also mentioned a recently published book he co-edited that highlights 10 mHealth projects.
