Streaming video is for videos that have been placed on a streaming server. The reason for doing this is to limit the amount of lag time on the video. With streaming video the server does most of the work, so the delay is minimal. Whereas with non-streaming the video has to buffer before it plays. Here you will see the option for Streaming Video. -
DEVELOPER ON DUTY | TUESDAY, OCTOBER 30, 2012 Release Notes for Rapid Intake Release 5.16 We corrected an issue with the Text and Video page that was causing the audio controls to disappear in certain situations. The latest release of Rapid Intake came out on the 29th of October. In this release there was a total of 7 fixes and enhancements for desktop courses. Here is the list and discription of what has been done. An enhancement was made to the Popup Interaction page to help it function within secure browsers and networks. The issue of the phantom scroll bar that would appear when a large image was included in the Text and Image page has been fixed. This has now been fixed. -

In preparation of my courses I am reformatting some multimedia sessions to fit mobile delivery. Here you see an example of a session given by David Metcalf on mLearning. Luckily, I came across ePubInClassroom (which features a nice overview of ePub options) and that was where I found a link to Calibre, which has indeed video integration (hooray!). The idea is quite simple really – anyone can create and upload a step-by-step guide using text, photos, and videos for a particular task/topic then others can search and find a relevant guide when they need one. We’re currently implementing a solution for a large cleaning products company in Europe which will be making how-to-videos for its products available to its staff on mobile devices using Upside Learning’s mobile learning platform.
