Persuasive Video on Cell Phones and Schools
I created this video for my presentation at the MACUL conference tomorrow in Grand Rapids, MI. Update: Here is the Link to video on TeacherTube.. I would love some feedback on it. The goal is to give a perspective of educational history and technology, where common technology tools (such as a chalkboard or pen or even Internet) were once banned and labeled "harmful" as we are doing with cell phones.

Converting a DVD from a windows pc onto a mobile device in 10 steps
Get the specifications of the audio and video files your mobile phone supports. There are various formats for audio and video, in order to convert the DVD to the right format for your mobile device, this is very important. Step 6. By default it looks at video files. As a teacher or professor you want to use multimedia (e.g. from your school’s library) in your classes or for informal learning purposes, the trouble is how do you do that?

Using Animoto to create short videos for mobile
Animoto is an online site that will automatically analyse your images and music, and then composite them for you into a dynamic video with professional transitions and effects. The results are stunning - the site has been created by professional video producers, and the transitions are timed nicely with the mood, tempo and beat of each musical accompaniment. Here’s a demonstration of what It supports direct retrieval from other social web tools such as Facebook, Picasa or Flickr, so if you’ve already uploaded your photos, there’s no need to find and upload them again.

A quick intro video from Graham Attwell about Personal Learning Environments
With the academic year coming up, quick videos that capture the imagination of learners and at the same time give a quick impression of relevant topics are in high demand. Graham Attwell and Andryan Puscuta have published a great video on Personal Learning Environments. A surplus of this video is the comic book feel it is designed in. It hits the mark with quickly talking about history of recent communication, informal formal learning and what PLE's are. If you are interested in implementing this type of design, there is a great photoshop tutorial on how to get this

Vringo...Create Video Project Ringtones for Cells
resource called Vringo , students can create short video ringtones. The way it works is when you call someone else, your video ringtone will be displayed as your friends phone is ringing. For example, students in a foreign language class could create video ringtones asking a question in the foreign language about a cultural item/event displayed in a video. Using a free web2.0 I was thinking this might be a fun way to engage in a content-based project.

Why did I just buy new Nano’s to use with students?
Well, once I heard that the 5th generation iPod Nano had added a video camera, voice recorder, and a step-o-meter as well as dropping in price, I knew it was time to finally get two – for my school. Being able to shoot quite decent video anywhere, or record students anytime as well as storing gigabytes of podcasts, photos etc. The video of course. Why for my school you ask? Well, one of my jobs is to encourage the uptake of the transformational learning that mobile and ubiquitous tech contributes to.

Create Cell Phone "I search" video papers with Twiddeo
I was listening to Ed Talk (01_14) recently and they (John, Jennifer, Dave, and Jeff) spoke about a new resource called Twiddeo , which is just Twitter with video. You can post videos from your computer, but you can also post immediately from your cell phone to your personal account. This allows for many "out-of-school" learning assignments with cell phones and video. It was an interesting discussion about whether Twiddeo should replace Twitter, but it got me thinking about educational learning uses of this new resource. So I decided to try it out.

Social Studies! Next Assignment...send a video message to presidential candidates cell phones!
etc), and send a video message through Mogreet the Vote to any of the presidential candidates personal cell phones. While the students have to select a "pre-made" video (they can select one side of the issue or the other), they can put in their own text message with it. After reading about this opportunity on PicturePhoning , I thought this would be a great assignment for any social studies class studying current events, following the 2008 election campaigns. Students could research an issue of their own interest (such as stem cell research, the best way to get out of the current
