mLearning in the House of Lords
I am just back from a very enjoyable hour spent in the House of Lords with Lord Lucas, discussing new technologies for learning and looking at some of our mobile learning works. Like other IT-savvy Lords, he uses his blog and to be open and honest with his views – and has a special interest in home-access and support for parents. A very interesting man. He was very enthusiastic about many of

ELI 2010 Spring Focus Session on Mobile Learning - portfolio
Most places to date are concentrating on the infrastructure needed to support and develop mobile applications. App development is focusing on apps that support the student in non-academic ways, such as maps, class scheduling, and so on. Chunking, or configuring large amounts of information into smaller units of information that are scaffolded (supportive structures) in order to accommodate memory and learning limitations is key to this approach. portfolio Brett Bixlers online professional portfolio. Peer-support counseling via mobile instant messaging
MXit, the popular mobile instant messaging (MIM) service, is being used by Marlon Parker and his crew in Cape Town to offer chat support on topics of drug abuse, rape, child abuse and debt management. The various projects — all outstanding examples of using mobile technologies to reach people-in-need using the ICT in their hands — are described in the article MXit put to some good use (The Times, 14 June 2009). The youth needing advice text from their mobile phones, while the volunteers at the support centre chat back from their PCs.

Five Myths of Mobile Learning
I’ll be the first to admit there is always an element of truth behind myths; but with the rate of technological change, quite a few of those ‘truths’ would seem like falsehoods today.
Additionally, they also include features to aid in pointing/clicking on screen, with the latest devices including multi-touch haptic support.
Additionally, corporates I’ve been occupied with writing a paper to promote the adoption of mobile learning amongst corporates and enterprises. While trawling through multiple web-links, a pattern of myths about mobile learning emerges.

Remember The Milk for iPhone
Ars asserts that one of RTM’s most useful features, especially in light of the iPhone’s continued lack of an alert system for third-party apps, is its rich support for reminders. RTM for iPhone has a lot of other interesting tricks, such as Smart Lists that can aggregate tasks by any criteria, horizontal support for using the iPhone OS’ wide keyboard, multilingual superpowers to run under every language the iPhone OS supports, and, of course, customizable syncing with the RTM website (auto, WiFi-only, manual), and much more. Today, Ars Technica reports the release of Remember The Milk (RTM) for iPhone.

Docs to Go for the iPhone
The iPhone has built-in support for viewing some Microsoft Office documents and Adobe PDF files, but the functionality is not as robust as Documents to Go for Palm.
iPhone Atlas recently reported that DataViz , publisher of the venerable Palm OS application Documents to Go, has announced plans to bring a version of the application to the iPhone. The software allows users to view and edit Word documents, PowerPoint presentations and Excel Spreadsheets and offers many other features, including the ability to display graphic files.

New Report Reinforces Mobile Learning is Best as Performance Support
The study was very insightful, and the findings support the notion that m-Learning is currently best consumed in the form of performance support material. However, this study does point to mobile performance support, delivering context relevant content quickly and efficiently as a major enabler for productivity. employees used mobile information “for two main purposes: in-field performance support from colleagues I just read an article titled, “Smartphones Make IBM Smarter, But Not As Expected” about IBM and Columbia University’s recent study on the behavior and effects of mobile learning within IBM.

SCORM Implementation For Mobile Devices
Availability of required technology/software like J2ME, a compatible browser
- Mobile browsers now almost fully support JavaScript and this makes it possible to implement SCORM using JS support.
But while implementing such on mobile devices we encountered that some of the well known mobile device browsers don’t support pop up windows – the Blackberry is an example. Recently we’ve made the UpsideLMS compatible to mobile devices and also launched a new version – UpsideLMS Version 4.0 . While ensuring compliance, we encountered some interesting
