Social science has many frameworks, theories, even pilot studies to prove its potential realization. These last few days were pushing the truth into my face again: education does not change the world. In fact: it helps destroying it. So why bother? Why do I put so much time and effort in researching education? It is not about Israël, it could just as easily be North Korea, China, Zimbabwe, waffles baking Belgium, … or the tiny country of Andorra for all I care. The nations never die, its citizens die, the children die. Annihilating the powerless is the best way to keep people down.

I don’t need to discuss the power of new social media tools in allowing a voice and an audience to anyone who wants it and wants to share their talents.  If you follow this blog with any regularity, then you’ve probably accepted this as a fact and a new reality.  What I will share is a powerful example. Now they need to convince the public, and educators, that cell phones can be important social platforms for learning.

Certainly, some schools have already made mobile versions of their websites, and some instructors incorporate social media like Twitter and Facebook, which can be used via mobile devices. The following video is a vision of the future, as predicted by MOCOM 2020 –which describes its organization as “an open think tank about mobile media worldwide&#. Ready or not, mobile media and communication look like they’re here to stay. It’s probable that more schools and  instructors in the near future will make more of their content accessible through mobile devices.
