I have recently been using a resource called iVoted. It is for live polling, similiar to Polleverywhere, LetsGoVote and SMSpoll. iVoted has a free package (up to 25 votes per poll with unlimited polls). The polls must be multiple choice, but they are very easy to generate. | CELL PHONES IN LEARNING MARCH 26, 2012 Create an Email address for your phone! The email turns into an sms message that you receive on your phone. mailbliss sms textmessagingThere is an interesting web2.0 site called Mailbliss , which allows anyone to create an email address for their phone. Why is this beneficial? Well, once you create an email address for your phone, anyone can use that email address to send you a text message! This allows people who do not have text messaging (or limited text messaging) to send text messages back and forth without having to pay extra. It is very easy to use and incredibly convenient. It is 100% free and very easy to use. | | | | | | | CELL PHONES IN LEARNING DECEMBER 22, 2011 ClassPager for SMS and Polling Students! It also allows you to set up sms polls (they can be free text polls). am really enjoying using a new resource called ClassPager. It is 100% free! It allows teachers to create class alerts with no limit on the number of students (or parents). Additionally, it is private. There are a lot of teacher controls over student accounts and yet it does allow for anonymity. classpager metropcs | MOBILE LEARNING JANUARY 9, 2008 Create a free SMS auto-reply learning tool I’ve previously blogged about StudyTXT , a system deployed at a number of New Zealand educational institutions (to whom it is available for free), which allows students to send an SMS and receive on-demand learning and support information on their mobile phones. It’s possible for us to set up customised SMS-response systems by working with a telecommunications services provider, but this can be a pricey or time-consuming exercise. Jane’s teacher uses an SMS reply system to provide a weekly summary of ten key terms or concepts learned during that week. | CELL PHONES IN LEARNING APRIL 10, 2012 KiKutext for Teachers to Communicate with Students and Parents textmessage parents alerts mailbliss sms textmessaging KiKutextA new and free resource called KiKutext is a mass text messaging service for teachers to communicate better with students and their parents. Furthermore , the service does not use shortcodes so it works with any phone service! All correspondence is archived in the teacher's private account. | MOBLEARN FEBRUARY 26, 2007 Learning english via SMS The mlearn2006 effect must be contagious. Athabasca University in Canada hosted the conference last year, and this year they are in the news for a pilot project using mobile learning to teach english grammar on their phones. Excellent news! It is a great subject area, because the learners are often very motivated, and there are ways of supporting language learning via all sorts of media | | | | | | | | | -

MOBILE COMMONS | TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 2012 Using Accents in SMS Text Messages SMS in the US. When you text your friends, you may not be using SMS! Mobile Commons works with some of the most inspiring Hispanic organizations in the country, including Reform Immigration 4 America , Presente.org , the National Alliance for Hispanic Health , the National Hispanic Media Coalition , and many others. But if you join the Spanish-language version of any of their mobile lists, you’ll notice something surprising. None of the characters have the appropriate accent marks.
