PhD thesis on tagging learning resources in a multilangual context
For years people are pushed to tag their learning resources, but I often wondered whether these tagged resources actually do get reused? Or whether tagging between peers that live in various parts of the world only works in theory, but does in fact not result in sharing resources in actual learning life. Some great shared learning resources have been around for some years: the Open Educational Resources Commons , which was But here comes Riina with a clear answer to these questions. Open Educational Resources Declaration and info
Mark Surman got me focussed on Open Educational Resources (OER) again with his great post on the Cape Town Declaration. There are a lot of OER out there, just to list a few: OER commons ; the European initiative SELF the olcos project ; The MIT open courseware which I like a lot :-) a great open source resource for software engineeering: AVOIR ; A great and more international initiative is RAFT , a Swiss initiative that provides distance continual medical education courses from French speaking developing countries to whoever wants to follow them. The Cape Town Open Education Declaration is document that will be posted on the WWW in the beginning of 2008 and which builds upon other Open Education evolutions such as Free & Open Source Software Portal from Unesco who put their ideas into open education from as early as 1984 onwards.

A Great Resource for Mobile Learning
As I went through all of the resources I’ve collected, I came back across one that I really think is worthwhile for learning professoinals to have a look at. The book is called “Innovative Mobile Learning Techniques and Technologies” and it’s a collection of studies and resources put together by Hokyoung Ryu and David Parsons at Massey University in New Zealand. Recommended Readings and Resources Click the image to go to the Google Preview
I’ve been doing some research for a paper I’m writing on mobile learning for distribution within my company.

My 8 learning predictions for 2010
For 2010 I think the cognitive will be increasingly in the picture. Low resource areas build more applications by themselves, and for themselves . Africa and other low resource areas are moving forward at a rapid pace. Tags: social network pedagogy low resource setting augmented reality social media ubiquitous learning semantic eLearnin In follow-up of the predictions I made in 2009 , I take a go at predicting the learning evolutions for 2010 (oh, how I wish I had an oracle to advise me). Overall I feel that learning research in 2010 will favor pedagogy over technology as the prime focus, and ubiquitous learning will be the central goal.
