Report: Sydney AUC iPhone SDK Workshop
There has been considerable activity at the University of Canberra with the implementation of Apple-based systems for supporting teaching and learning. With the University installing a new lecture recording system, staff here in the Teaching & Learning Centre have been focused on ways to optimise the capture, editing, and delivery of videos from all sources (including learner-created, teacher-created, and lecture-recorded).

I just read an article titled, “Smartphones Make IBM Smarter, But Not As Expected” about IBM and Columbia University’s recent study on the behavior and effects of mobile learning within IBM. 2010 Horizon Report on emerging technologies' impact on education is out
The annual Horizon Report describes the continuing work of the New Media Consortium (NMC)’s Horizon Project in collaboration with Educause, a research-oriented effort that seeks to identify and describe emerging technologies likely to have considerable impact on teaching, learning, and creative expression within higher education. eSCART2008: an online course for low resource settings - the final report
Today I proudly post our (= ITM's) final report on the pilot course of our newly build full online course: eSCART2008. But this time it is the full report on the pilot that I am describing in this post. I did write about the subject while the course was under construction, in that post I focused on the pre-survey we gave the learners. In a couple of weeks ITM starts another eLearning course for health care workers in the field specializing in ART (AntiRetroviral Therapy) .

Children and Mobile Phones
Thanks to BECTA in the UK for pointing out a report entitled Children’s Use of Mobile Phones — An International Comparison February 2009 . Included in the report is a section on mobile phone literacy as well as an appendix with examples of use of mobile phones by children in target countries. The 60-page report was published in 2009 by the GSM Association and the Mobile Society Research Institute within NTT DOCOMO and is available Details are taken from interviews and data from Japan, Korea, China, India and Mexico. There is a lot we all can learn from such global initiatives.
