However, this study does point to mobile performance support, delivering context relevant content quickly and efficiently as a major enabler for productivity. employees used mobile information “for two main purposes: in-field performance support from colleagues and access to late-breaking information”. Employees did not find the mobile courseware to be particularly helpful. | | | | | | | UPSIDE LEARNING FEBRUARY 4, 2011 Leveraging Mobile Learning Platforms As Performance Support Systems This post specifically talks about how a Mobile Learning Platform can be used as an effective Performance Support System. What is a ‘Performance Support System’? A ‘Performance Support System’ or PSS refers to any system that improves worker productivity by providing on-the-job access to integrated information, advice and learning experiences. UPSIDE LEARNING | MONDAY, APRIL 11, 2011 Mobile Learning: A Quick SWOT Analysis One of the most relevant tools (currently) for performance support. Myriad number of operating platforms, device types and variations in supported technologies make it difficult (and at times impractical) to create a unified solution which works well across the board. One of the best ways to offer quick, real-time on-demand performance support. More than pushing training on to a mobile device, designing mobile performance support solutions would be the greatest opportunity. number of these posts can be found at this link. Weaknesses. MLEARNING IS GOOD | TUESDAY, JUNE 1, 2010 How is it used? Currently, it’s been recognized that mobile learning fits best into the following learning content forms: Performance support. It’s generally recommended that m-learning be delivered as an extension of current learning programs rather than the sole learning product. More m-Learning from my kitchen!! MORE >> -
mLearning Best Practices: How Much Content is Too Much for Mobile Learning? have also heard other presenters at conferences recommend using mobile devices only for performance support content, such as job aids or diagnostic apps; again, the assumption that there should be a difference in the way that we approach content; that there is 'no way people are going to be taking an entire course on a mobile device.' Since we released mLearning Studio , (our rapid mobile learning development toolset) and whenever I present at conferences, I'm asked the question, "What kinds of content and how much content is appropriate for mobile learning?" What do you think? MORE >> -
UPSIDE LEARNING | THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 2010 Will Mobile Apps Change Training Forever? For me, it shifts the focus from ‘Training’ to ‘ Performance Support’. In my interactions with various business owners & training managers I’ve found a performance support initiative gets the management nod more easily as compared to a training initiative. Evidently, the management believes the advantage of a performance support initiative is immediate, and promises better ROI. It can be adapted to become your performance support agent at work. Examples of Workplace Learning ( Performance Support) Apps. Why Mobile? MORE >> -
