In this mornings Wall Street Journal - Tech Blog , Ben Worthen did a very good job summarizing what I believe is the direction of mobile application development. Since I do not have the budget to purchase a cell phone and contract will all of the major cell phone vendors (Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint, Qwest , AT&T, etc.)

Thick Clients Started.
T his past week I started the section of my sabbatical on thick clients. Outcome one has to do with the development of a download able mobile app that would serve some educational purpose. will do a little traveling this week so my sabbatical goes mobile. This phase has two outcomes I am investigating.

W ith the economy dominating the new$, it has also impacted the mobile device market. What I wanted to highlight this week was some articles and web pages related to mobile technology. On the Bizrate web site I found a number of wifi enabled mobile devices that were cell phone at a variety of prices (prices $20 to $1700).
