Flash Player On Devices – Going Mobile Just Got Easier
All the money and concentrated brain power of some of the most innovative and powerful companies will certainly yield some great results in the form of new software, hardware and cloud based applications to enable our productivity and creativity.
But iPhone aside, Adobe has been doing a lot to try to get mobile device manufacturers to include the Flash Player on their devices as either a stand-alone player or a browser plug-in. As one Google guy I spoke with recently said, “everyone is thinking about mobile.” 8221; And that is a really good thing for mobile learning.

Mobile E-learning Publishing: iPad, iPhone, or Kindle – Which do iChoose?
Dev Patnaik at BusinessWeek recently discussed product innovation in this light and the relation to mobile content and e-reader growth is telling.
Case in point: Apple has been generating iTunes profit upwards of several hundred million dollars for some time now ; all the while selling many of their devices at a price just marginally above the cost of production .
Based on the iPad’s content delivery model, it is clear While it was enlightening to see Steve Jobs demonstrate what the iPad can do, I found it more interesting to see what the iPad cannot do. Tablet-like in size

Google Goggles will rock m-learning.
The official Google site for the project (which is still in development) provides a number of ways Goggles can be used to accomplish a “visual search”, including landmarks, books, contact information, artwork, places, logos, and even wine labels (which I anticipate could go much further, to cover product packaging more broadly).
A textual search is useless, but a visual search would allow you to take a photo of the chair and let Google’s servers offer some suggestions about who might have manufactured, designed, or sold it. Back in 2006, I made some predictions about where mobile learning might be heading, including the use of augmented reality or “Heads Up” data displays to provide information on a learner’s environment and allow learning “in situ,”.

The Mobile Learning Engine (MLE) for Moodle
By contrast, different handsets designed by different manufacturers each have their own web browser which implements bookmarks in different ways, making it very difficult to train a user in how to bookmark a Moodle page as the process is specific to their device.
I’ve had a chance to play with our own implementation of MLE, and while it may need a little polishing, it’s well on the way to being an excellent product for mobile learning.
One recent interesting development in mobile learning has been the creation of mobile interfaces for Online Learning Environments.

Are Apps the Future of Mobile Learning?
The statistics come from Ambient Insight’s US Market for Mobile Learning Products and Services 2008-2013 (Executive Summary)
“As While app stores rely on individuals motivated by entertainment or a self-interest in learning, organizational learning is often based around compliance, performance support, productivity and professional development to name a few. This task is made more complicated because of the variety As a developer, you constantly look for the “next big thing”. Most of us will probably admit that there can be more than one of those “big

M-Learning Decisions: Web App or Native App?
8220;We use BES server to give us relatively secure access to our internal network,” says Alfons Schermaier, senior architect at chemicals manufacturer PPG Industries. “From In some cases, it makes a lot of sense to develop native applications to run on a device and in many cases it will make sense to use the web for your learning product. I’ve written a couple of posts about the differences and the advantages and disadvantages of native applications and web applications when it comes to mobile learning. Check out these previous posts on Apps for the future and Google

Faster Wi-Fi coming to cell phones, thanks to Broadcom - OCRegister.com
Q: Is this the first time Wi-Fi (n), Bluetooth and FM have been on one chip? B: This is Broadcom’s second-generation product with all three technologies. The BCM4329 not only takes up less space, but consumes less power — which can help to reduce the battery that is required for mobile products. Workers Favoring Mobile Devices Over Laptops
52% of the 1400 respondents said they could see themselves using their smart phone as their only computing device (if manufacturers continue to improve those devices). This evidence is relevant because it demonstrates the acceptance and reliance on mobile devices for productivity tasks beyond voice calls and basic email. I stumbled onto an article from the Wall Street Journal called “Time to Leave the Laptop Behind” and found some interesting information about trends in employee preferences while traveling. What I see here is that mobile workers are building trust in

Déjà Vu
Earlier I had gotten the comment that there was no need to connect with the outside world, as our faculty from business and from manufacturing didn’t even communicate. Businesses and government are finding how much more productive workers can be using these devices for communication, data gathering, information access, and yes, even learning and performance support. All the current controversy about mobile learning in schools seems very familiar. I
