The Mobile Learner
I spoke a representitive of Turning Technologies at the most recent ECOO conference and while I can’t remember the exact costs of their service, I do remember it to be very reasonable. In addition, I also recall their service being totally web based so that students without a compatible mobile device can still participate in a poll by inputing their responses from a computer. Create a free SMS auto-reply learning tool
Some educators have used StudyTXT to provide brief revision “flash cards” or notes for their students on-demand; but I can also see the possibility for this kind of system to be used to play educational games or mobile quizzes.
It’s possible for us to set up customised SMS-response systems by working with a telecommunications services provider, but this can be a pricey or time-consuming exercise.
I’ve previously blogged about StudyTXT , a system deployed at a number of New Zealand educational institutions (to whom it is available for free), which allows students to send an SMS and receive on-demand learning and support information on their mobile phones.

Interactive gaming with this kind of augmented reality was also shown in a short movie where a PDA camera was used as an interface together with a real life map. On the camera display the games virtual characters were shown as they moved and behaved in certain ways with the real map as the playing board.
