iPods in Education Part 11: Digital Flash Cards
This blog post is in response to all the digital flash card websites that I’ve been coming across lately that are offering teachers digital flash cards for iPod for a fee. There is an easy option for teachers and students to create their own digital flash cards that is totally free.
Obviously, the concept of using flash cards is not new. Traditionally, flash cards are paper cards that have questions on one side and answers on the other. They have been used as a way to help student reinforce curricular learning, to study for tests and to make studying

At ITM we have been experimenting with Flash animations as learning tools. I just want to share one with you all, feel free to add comments or remarks. With the success of web-based and blended learning practice has never been more important because

Cell Phone Conferencing A Free Tool for Teaching!
Cell phones can be a handy conferencing tool for teaching and learning. Recently with the rise of web conferencing tools some schools are starting to take advantage of these internet-based tools for virtual conferencing and even professional development. Many conferencing tools now have call-in numbers where participants can call-in to listen to and participate in the conference session. Part of teaching is being able to conference with students, parents, experts, and members of the community. Often conferences and meetings are conducted face-to-face.

Create a free SMS auto-reply learning tool
Some educators have used StudyTXT to provide brief revision “flash cards” or notes for their students on-demand; but I can also see the possibility for this kind of system to be used to play educational games or mobile quizzes.
Which is why I’m delighted to be able to share this tool with you: BaselsReply (v2.0) . I’ve previously blogged about StudyTXT , a system deployed at a number of New Zealand educational institutions (to whom it is available for free), which allows students to send an SMS and receive on-demand learning and support information on their mobile phones.

Instructional Design: What do you get when you mix articulate presenter, with captivate, with camtasia, with webquiz ... you could get THIS
It works with Flash, so sometimes he preloads to buffer the multimedia files. How can you mix all kinds of software's AND social media apps? That is one of the questions I have roaming about in the back of my mind. On the verge of my vacation, I wanted to test a new software ( Articulate Presenter ) and see if other software that we use to build courses with can be implemented.

Digital mindmapping tools: my choices for connected visual organisers/presenting
Still fully-featured (it was a paid version until recently), it really jumped ahead of the others I was considering due to the fact that it works on PCs and Macs, AND has a special version for running exclusively from USB flash drives. ve now gone on to use this with our Head of Curriculum and Admin team to demonstrate what’s possible - and they were impressed, not just with the flash-looking end product, but with how powerful it could be for giving presentations to staff.
I’ve had loads of fun lately I must admit just trying out mindmapping/ visual organiser software.

The Powerful Combination of Mobile Devices and Learning Apps
In discussing the use of mobile devices, it is easy to forget that the educational and productive power of mobile devices comes through the integration of the devices with other tools. The mobile device, after all, is a hardware tool that makes certain tasks possible but the actualization of those tasks ultimately depends on the use of software or web tools. document sharing software
Google also offers other online tools. Or Zoho which also offers a big variety of online office tools (database, spreadsheets...). If you like loging in, you can also use Adobe's Share which publishes all the documents to a flash format that can be embedded in other web pages. There are a lot of softwares out there for document sharing. But graphically speaking Issuu says it all.

eLearning mash-up follow-up: Articulate presenter and Flash 10 compatibility
Just a quick note : a useful fix for those working with Articulate presenter and are upgrading to the Flash 10 player. It was a quick mash-up, but it resulted in a useful combination of tools that simply look cool . But when the Flash 10 player came along, that presentation no longer loaded in my browser. A couple of months ago I wrote a post about a combination of Articulate presenter, Captivate, Camtasia, social media incorporation and a high definition webcam.
