The Mobile Learner
I spoke a representitive of Turning Technologies at the most recent ECOO conference and while I can’t remember the exact costs of their service, I do remember it to be very reasonable. In addition, I also recall their service being totally web based so that students without a compatible mobile device can still participate in a poll by inputing their responses from a computer. Create a free SMS auto-reply learning tool
Some educators have used StudyTXT to provide brief revision “flash cards” or notes for their students on-demand; but I can also see the possibility for this kind of system to be used to play educational games or mobile quizzes.
It’s possible for us to set up customised SMS-response systems by working with a telecommunications services provider, but this can be a pricey or time-consuming exercise.
I’ve previously blogged about StudyTXT , a system deployed at a number of New Zealand educational institutions (to whom it is available for free), which allows students to send an SMS and receive on-demand learning and support information on their mobile phones.

Digital mindmapping tools: my choices for connected visual organisers/presenting
Still fully-featured (it was a paid version until recently), it really jumped ahead of the others I was considering due to the fact that it works on PCs and Macs, AND has a special version for running exclusively from USB flash drives. ve now gone on to use this with our Head of Curriculum and Admin team to demonstrate what’s possible - and they were impressed, not just with the flash-looking end product, but with how powerful it could be for giving presentations to staff.
I’ve had loads of fun lately I must admit just trying out mindmapping/ visual organiser software.

Learning in Hand Blog by Tony Vincent
Multiple-choice quizzes, flash cards, math games, and the like are plentiful. The screen will flash and you’ll hear a camera sound. Or, many blogging and photo services allow for posting directly from email. That’s great because the blogging service Posterous lets you post podcasts by email ! Create It in Your Hand, Share It with the World Below is some of my 30 minute talk at Handheld Learning 2009 in London. The presentation is called Create It in Your Hand, Share It with the World . My mLearning Predictions for 2010
We can all expect advances in next generation devices and capabilities from Apple, Google/Android, RIM/BlackBerry, Microsoft, Palm, Nokia and others. It is also easy to anticipate that i nformal/self-service learning will begin to trump formal/assigned learning in terms of "monthly seat time" as mobile learning begins to facilitate learning and contributing anywhere at any time. So, without further ado and in no particular order, I offer my early January predictions for mlearning in 2010. Mobile learning projects delivered in established and emerging global markets will

The museum has a few iPods on loan for free at the Visitors Services desk. Such personalization of mobile phones is more commonly achieved through photos of family or celebrities, but the MFA clearly hopes that such a service will not only enhance its own revenue stream but also expand the visitor experience beyond the doors of the museum. PLAYBACK: Why Educators Should Embrace Texting, Tweeting and All That Mobile Technology Has to Offer » Spotlight
Tilley noted that the flash-fiction genre has a distinguished lineage: the famously laconic Ernest Hemingway once wrote a story using just six words – “For sale: baby shoes, never worn” – and is said to have called it his best work. How Mobile Cell Phones Change Everything When We Do : UK digital media expert Ewan McIntosh wrote an interesting post about using mobile phones in the classroom for on-the-spot research, reference and interaction—and the thinking required to change classroom practices.
