Commercial Mobile Learning Content Examined
The modules use Flash Lite and are available for a large number of phones (and even larger following the recent Adobe announcement of upcoming partnerships and availability of the Flash player on mobile devices.) Tags: presentations Photoshop examples medica I have been looking at some commercial mobile training modules recently and have found some excellent examples -- as well as some lessons learned. Electronic Health Care/Medical libraries: a student instrument created with Articulate Engage
Articulate Engage is producing Flash content and as such is cross-platform, but the files are still very heavy. This list of Electronic Health Care/Medical Libraries on the Internet was inserted into Articulate Engage by Carlos Kiyan and is almost 13MB. Articulate Engage has some nice features: it is indeed really easy to use and it generates Flash content ( swf ) with just one push on a button. At ITM we are dabbling with Articulate Engage. One of our main concerns is trying to figure out whether Articulate Engage is something we can use in low resource areas.

The Mobile Learner
4 Comments » iPods in Education Part 11: Digital Flash Cards January 8, 2009 — Rob De Lorenzo This blog post is in response to all the digital flash card websites that I’ve been coming across lately that are offering teachers digital flash cards for iPod for a fee. There is an easy option for teachers and students to create their own digital flash cards that is totally free. Erik Duval’s Weblog
It strikes me that we still need to evolve organizations like schools & universities, or hospitals, in a similar way: these organizations are focusing on how to make effective use of the expensive teachers or medical staff, rather than on how to make the student learn effectively or cure the patient… As technology evolves, and teaching power or healing power becomes more cheap and abundant, I hope that we can re-focus on the needs of the learner or patient… If you have any suggestions on how to make this happen, I’d love to hear from you… Posted in Uncategorized

Still (almost) no word on m-learning for the Palm Pre
He said that the medical app Epocrates is likely to be available at the Pre’s launch date. Since the Pre does have a real keyboard and will be supporting Flash I am probably not the only mobile learning enthusiast who is getting excited about the possibilities here. The Palm Pre is still hyped almost as much as the iPhone. After doing a few hours of research on what mobile learning apps await us for this smart phone juggernaut, I have to admit that there seems to be almost no information on coming apps.
