Is your institution considering mobile learning? « Tony Bates
2010) Considering mobile learning for your institution Academic Impressions Higher Ed Impact: Weekly Analysis January 28 This article, basically an interview with Judy Brown, ‘founder and former director of the University of Wisconsin system’s Academic ADL Co-Lab and a key thinker in mobile learning strategies’, is one of the best articles I have read on the design of mobile learning: essential reading for anyone thinking of going in this direction. The other great mobile education movement
Ok I know I said three – but this one is not one of mine – Flash support. don’t use flash hardly at all, but I know alot of educators that do rely on it for hundreds of interactive learning objects that are totally unavailable in the Apple mobile world. How long it takes for these to eventually be ported over to Java/HTML5 or turned into the mobile apps (via Adobe conversion software) that are becoming more of the standard for such software I don’t know, but until I am aware dear reader that much of my writings on how learning is handling the inevitable rise of ubiquitous computing centre’s around the iPhone/iPod touch/iPad platform.

iPods in Education Part 11: Digital Flash Cards
This blog post is in response to all the digital flash card websites that I’ve been coming across lately that are offering teachers digital flash cards for iPod for a fee. There is an easy option for teachers and students to create their own digital flash cards that is totally free.
Obviously, the concept of using flash cards is not new. Traditionally, flash cards are paper cards that have questions on one side and answers on the other. They have been used as a way to help student reinforce curricular learning, to study for tests and to make studying

One of ITM's scientific flash learning instruments
At ITM we have been experimenting with Flash animations as learning tools. I just want to share one with you all, feel free to add comments or remarks. Practice in veterinary diagnosis is essential and requires hours and days of intensive training in laboratories normally using expensive and high technological equipment. With the success of web-based and blended learning practice has never been more important because learners

eLearning mash-up follow-up: Articulate presenter and Flash 10 compatibility
Just a quick note : a useful fix for those working with Articulate presenter and are upgrading to the Flash 10 player. But when the Flash 10 player came along, that presentation no longer loaded in my browser. This was due to a swf file that was not correctly decodable by any of the browsers that used the new Flash 10. A couple of months ago I wrote a post about a combination of Articulate presenter, Captivate, Camtasia, social media incorporation and a high definition webcam.

Instructional Design: What do you get when you mix articulate presenter, with captivate, with camtasia, with webquiz ... you could get THIS
It works with Flash, so sometimes he preloads to buffer the multimedia files. How can you mix all kinds of software's AND social media apps? That is one of the questions I have roaming about in the back of my mind. On the verge of my vacation, I wanted to test a new software ( Articulate Presenter ) and see if other software that we use to build courses with can be implemented.

Flash on my iPhone? It’s showdown time!
For several years Adobe has been promoting Flash as a great technology for mobile devices (and it is). For several years Apple have been making amazing mobile devices (and they are). … and, for some bizarre reason, the two have been bickering all along, and never quite making friends. Flash Lite on More Mobile Devices Means More Mobile Devices with Rich E-Learning Content
Microsoft is now licensing Flash Lite for Windows Mobile . Flash Lite is a subset of the desktop Flash environment and the version that will be on Windows Mobile will allow developers to utilize components like Flash Video and a significant portion of the ActionScript 3 programming language. What this means is that you can develop full scale mobile applications with the Flash Authoring Tool and deploy them to devices running Windows Mobile. This is a good thing if you’re hoping to develop or port e-Learning content to Windows Mobile Devices. Think simulations,

iPod touch - does it have a future for learning?
We love our iPod Touch.
We We love that it challenges assumptions on user interface, and takes a few steps towards the hallowed ideal of ubiquitous computing where the interface becomes intuitive (and invisible).
We We love that we are not locked into a ridiculous phone contract with Orange for 18 months at £30pm, but

Adobe’s Mobile Packager: Flash on your mobile
Those of you who know me know that I’ve been excited about Flash for mobile devices for a long time. Ever since the first announcements of Flash Lite in 2005/2006, I’ve been studying and working on ways to port the most ubiquitous rich web technology to the mobile space. But there have always been some real limitations to using Flash for mobiles. My expiriments with Mode2Tech lead to my first mobile application, called Burst , which is currently in version 2 and I think it has some valuable applications. First, Flash is only available as a player on two platforms,

iPhone Flash Cards—Greek, Hebrew & Syriac: Dr. Jeff Childers
Much has changed since I first wrote about using the iPhone as a tool for reviewing Greek flash cards ( Fall 2007 ). The App Store makes available a number of flash card programs and specialized card sets, downloadable straight to the iPhone. It has a simple, online interface that lets you create flash card decks, edit cards, and-if you like-share them with the world. I have been using iFlipr recently.
