STEP, StarLogo TNG , StarLogo , Scratch , Logo etc) So – while saddened by the implication that there will be less Google financial investment in it, I cannot think of a better new home for what seems to be a powerful tool for learners. A year ago, Google released App Inventor – a fascinatingly visual, albeit rather buggy tool for developing android apps. Often a sign of a project’s demise. | MOBLEARN JANUARY 17, 2011 Mobile stats for 2010 and 2011 good rule of thumb is that “the more financially viable, the more accurate the stats”. I can’t help but be bowled over when I try to get my head around exactly how many people are doing useful tasks on their phones. Many of the stats are by their nature skewed. So if you want to know mobile internet usage in Ghana – you will struggle. | | | | | | | UPSIDE LEARNING DECEMBER 9, 2010 Three Ways to Use Mobile Devices in Workplace Learning Many an attempt at proving the ROI of training programs have been misplaced financial calculations at best, as they don’t really take into account the real impact a training program makes in contributing to business performance. Mobile learning is certainly a hot discussion topic with elearning and training solutions providers in Australia – like anywhere else in the world. | IGNATIA WEBS JUNE 15, 2010 Tomi Ahonen: Mobile in Learning: lessons from around the world 58% of Kenya uses mobile banking for personal financial transactions. First key speaker at mLearncon Tuesday 15 june 2010. Tomi Ahonen comes in with a grey mob-reminding hat and starts with a joke on the age of a mobile learner based on sms-capacity. What was his speech about: mobile phones are the most prevalent technology, ever. 4,6 billion people have a phone. Peggy_G:Hi Liz. | ULEARNING BLOG MAY 18, 2009 Challenge Based Learning w’ Marco Torres Marco spoke about how the big challenge for the US in coming out of the financial crisis is to sove its problems in three areas: sustainability, health care, and education. I had the great pleasure this week of attending a colloqium with well-known ADE Marco Torres. At this event, we got to hear in a conversational atmosphere from Marco’s substantial international perspective on how technology can engage learners and transform learning. IGNATIA WEBS | THURSDAY, JANUARY 28, 2010 Beware critics of Connectivism ! Or how I feel connectivism opens up content creation and access The content is not financially elitist. In 2008 I enrolled in the CCK connectivism course. It was the first time I took such a mass course and … I liked it, though I could not really say why I liked it. In 2009 I wanted to follow the second run through of the course, but due to time restraints (buying a house, taking a master, full-time job) I just could not cope and so the intention stayed just that. What was surprising was that many of the people who critiqued it, actually were experienced researchers, yet they did not actually follow the course itself. The content is open. MORE >> -
IGNATIA WEBS | MONDAY, AUGUST 18, 2008 My top 5 list of agonising eLearning Myths It demands a financial investment in hard- and software (the latest can be kept to a minimum), infrastructure and last but not least in teachers, tutors, developers. Through the last decade some myths got their paws on eLearning. And although a lot of us try to get these myths banned, they keep popping-up whenever I have an introduction talk on eLearning. Because these myths keep on roaring their ugly heads, I have written down my top 5 list of agonising eLearning myths to use them in a small booklet I am working on. also added my short reply to these mythical questions. Not at all! MORE >> -

THE MOBILE LEARNER | MONDAY, APRIL 9, 2012 Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) – Being Practical About Mobile Learning While some may critique that BYOD shifts the financial burden of cost from school districts to already financially burdened families, I would argue that if families are already shouldering that burden, why not let students use the devices to support their own learning? Where as the conversation was mainly dominated by costs, allowing students to bring their own devices will allow more financial flexibility to schools and school districts. More recently, the conversation has shifted from purchasing computers to purchasing mobile devices. MORE >>
