The National Association of Secondary School Principals have been trying to make sense of the whirlwind that is Social and Mobile Technologies. They have just released a position statement , summarizing their thoughts on the matter … and it is surprisingly good! And school leaders would often be paralyzed by cyberbullying and sexting incidents for which guidance was often inadequate and contradictory. | MOBLEARN SEPTEMBER 2, 2011 Google’s App Inventor … liberation or stagnation? See this google blog post from Hal Ableson , the prof who will be running it New injection of energy for the constructionist theories of learning. A year ago, Google released App Inventor – a fascinatingly visual, albeit rather buggy tool for developing android apps. Although not robust enough for our commercial development, we loved the fresh ideas about interface, and app building. | UPSIDE LEARNING SEPTEMBER 5, 2012 The Mobile Learning Ecosystem I – 10 Important Questions Any ecosystem depends on the sum of resources available (in essence energy); in nature it is the sun that drives most of the system by providing infinite energy coupled with naturally occurring resources such as nitrogen and carbon. So this type of energy must exist in a learning network, used to generate value in the network. So sometimes if you choose to go for a mobile development option, it takes a lot of energy (energy level goes down), but if you finish it it can provide optimized learning results so the learning percentage goes up. Here are some ideas I encountered in South Africa. | | | | | | | | | -
MLEARNING IS GOOD | THURSDAY, JUNE 25, 2009 Mobile Augmented Reality – A Brief Overview GE recently launched a website to teach customers about its’ efforts in alternative energy. . The integration of innovative technology in learning has always been a goal of educators. In the past two decades, we’ve seen advances in learning technology that allow learners to connect to powerful learning systems and sources of information that were previously unavailable. THE MOBILE LEARNER | FRIDAY, AUGUST 7, 2009 Addressing Some Critiques of Mobile Learning Instead of using energy to ban cell phones, and then policing the ban, we should be teaching student how to live responsibly in the world and how to treat others with respect – basic social skills. Throughout the many posts on this blog, I have mainly focused on trends and ideas in how mobile devices can be integrated into teaching and learning. I’ve stayed away from the whole discussion on the social side of mobile learning because it is so emotionally charged. While there are many criticisms I can address, for brevity’s sake, I’m going to focus on three. MORE >> -

'As the West or North is looking for new ways to finance the shift that is taking place in education (MOOCs and Higher Education), it would feel logical to me that inclusive education will be born in developing regions, hopefully bringing along financial options that can help people in the West or North that are increasingly fighting poverty and seclusion from educational resources. mobile options). IGNATIA WEBS | WEDNESDAY, JUNE 16, 2010 Richard Clark: mLearning on multiple devices: a practical guide at mLearnCon very intelligent and sharp minded man with glasses, with kind gestures to give energy to his words, mainly elaborating with iPhone examples. Again blogging live, so excuse me for short sentences, mistypes. He will talk about strategy if you want to make native, or near to native applications. First: what role do these mobile phones play in your strategy? what is it aimed for? what do the other academics, organizations do? how do you support it? these things are set on a mini video with possible feedback (says Richard Clark) E.g. use the CellCast player ( [link] ). THE MOBILE LEARNER | TUESDAY, JULY 12, 2011 Remembering the Social Contexts of Learning The disconnect here is that proponents of technology, myself included, often spend enormous amounts of time and energy discussing the mechanics of technology use but do so outside of the social contexts and realities of teaching and learning. I’m struggling with a few thoughts at the moment… I continue to read, and be inspired by, blog posts, statements, tweets, etc from educators about the need to integrate technology into daily teaching and learning. am pointing my finger a bit here at technology and curriculum specialists. respect the work these individuals do.
