One of the strongest criticisms about introducing cell phones in classrooms is that students use the devices to bully others or to organize fights via text messaging. While there is no doubt that this occurs, there is also no doubt that it’s not the cell phone that creates this behaviour. A cell phone is a communication tool and students are using it to communicate. This is where the mobile phone comes into play. GPS locators found in many of today’s mobile phones allow students to explore their surroundings while also applying mapping skills.
