The Powerful Combination of Mobile Devices and Learning Apps
In discussing the use of mobile devices, it is easy to forget that the educational and productive power of mobile devices comes through the integration of the devices with other tools. realize that when I make reference to apps, it tends to imply the use of an iPhone or iPod Touch. In fact, all the ideas mentioned below are possible on an iPod Touch with free or very inexpensive apps – The mobile device, after all, is a hardware tool that makes certain tasks possible but the actualization of those tasks ultimately depends on the use of software or web tools. Let’s

Addressing Some More Critiques of Mobile Learning
In that blog post, I attempted to debunk three of the most common critiques educators and education stakeholder have on the concept of mobile learning: students use mobile devices (such as cell phones) to bully other students, students use mobile devices to cheat, students use the Internet far too much and don’t know how to filter high quality information from biases, unsubstantiated opinions and falsehoods. Countless educators around the world and throughout the years have spoken to countless parents about the fact that their child is not paying attention in class.

Duke Digital Initiative into its fourth wireless year | EDC Blog
Home About RSS Log in Duke Digital Initiative into its fourth wireless year Posted on January 30, 2009 by Hamish Filed Under Uncategorized As promised, I’d like to bring to your attention a few items regarding mobile learning (mLearning) and the way it’s being used in educational spheres. Its researchers were the ones who truly captivated the educational technology community with the radical experimentation they have undergone. For the past few years, a trend has begun that has opened new possibilities for the ways in which students collaborate with the help of technologies they so fervently love to use.

E-learning in the Mobile World and the Right Business Model to Deliver It
The iPhone 3 will be released soon and Apple recently stated they have over 50 thousand applications for download in their App Store where over 1 billion applications have been downloaded by their 40 million iPhone and iPod Touch customers. Until the Kindle can withstand the rigors of being tethered to a 3rd grader and Mom and Dad are willing to pay for little Johnny’s new iPhone, it’s hard to imagine these types of devices displacing the book on a large scale for the K-12 demographic (although there are numerous educational applications available for this group). I think it is safe to say that for most of us the personal computer is the first place we go when we are looking for web-based information; however, new web-ready mobile devices are emerging with increased speed and are blurring the line of what traditionally constitutes a viable endpoint for digital content.

Is Mobile Learning a Good Idea? « TrainersBlog
TrainersBlog Is Mobile Learning a Good Idea? June 15, 2009 at 5:00 am ( Learning Technologies ) ( eLearning , mobile , technology ) Apple is partnering up with the Georgia school system to provide iPods for podcasts to be used in home schooling. At the risk of sounding short-sighted or non-visionaryish, I don’t see how mobile learning is going to answer any great needs in training and education. Now I like to keep this about adult learning since the K-12 category is well represented online and, well, my area is adult learning not K-12.
