MOBILE COMMONS JUNE 25, 2012 Mobile Commons Gets Personal with Democracy Earlier this month, Mobile Commons helped out our friends at the Personal Democracy Forum give conference-goers a way to voice their opinions about technology and government. Working with the event organizers, we ran a mobile survey asking attendees for their opinions on everything from where the SOPA/PIPA movement should go next to what they think about the FCC. Attendees | MOBILE COMMONS JUNE 25, 2012 Voto Latino Drives Voter Registration (and Voting) over SMS Sometimes the best way to reach out to people is to have your members do it for you. That’s the idea behind a recent Voto Latino campaign that used text to engage its members in a voting registration drive. Members on the Voto Latino mobile list received a text asking them to take the May Day Pledge: to sign up one new voter in the first week of May. They could pledge by texting back POWER, or through a web link helpfully provided in the original message. Another series of texts targeted local communities around Romeo Santos’s concert tour.
