SCORM » Mobile Learning – My Ah Ha Moment
To put it in geek-speak, I had my first experience with mobile learning for performance support…and it was amazing. We know that the SCORM Engine works on the iPhone and Androids devices, but that’s about as far as we’ve taken it. Clearly, mobile devices are most widely used for SMS; apps and mobile web are secondary (making a phone call doesn’t even qualify to be on the list). Rustici Software Ask us anything. Really. Yes, mobile moodle for iPhone is eminent, we will release open source code soon
the Institute of Tropical Medicine Alexander von Humboldt (IMTAvH) in Lima and the Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITM) in Antwerp) was working on something special: a mobile moodle for iPhone. In 2008, our Peruvian/Belgian team won the Tibotec Reach Initiatives grant , which allowed us to start looking at solutions to get two types of smartphones (iPhone and NokiaN95) linked up with the mobile moodle learning platform. For those who have been following my mobile blogs, you knew our great Peru/Belgian team (i.e. We started out rather basic, you can read about the first steps

How do develop web content on the iPhone
The next couple of months I will be working with colleagues from Peru (Luis Fucai, Ellar Llacsahuanga and Carlos Kiyan) on a mobile learning project (funded by the Reach initiative , Tibotec grant) that involves iphone's and NokiaN95's for physicians in Peru. The choice of the phones that are used in this project was primarely given by the types of mobile devices that were supported in Peru and the preference of people involved. Because of the successful marketing the iPhone was first on the list of many physicians, nevertheless we wanted to opt for a broader aray of mobile operating systems and so the symbian driven Nokia N95 was added.

E-learning in the Mobile World and the Right Business Model to Deliver It
I think it is safe to say that for most of us the personal computer is the first place we go when we are looking for web-based information; however, new web-ready mobile devices are emerging with increased speed and are blurring the line of what traditionally constitutes a viable endpoint for digital content. As the computing power of mobile devices improves and they become more affordable, the demand for content that works well on these platforms continues to grow. Have you seen the new Verizon netbook ? Is it a laptop, a souped-up PDA?

iPods in Education Part 12: Customized Learning Using Apps
While the introduction of the iPhone and the iPod Touch has changed the rules in how handheld devices can be used in education, this series has laid dormant as I’ve been in the process of catching up with the technology. As I did not own neither an iPod Touch nor an iPhone, I didn’t feel confident that I could confidently discuss the benefits of using such devices in education.
There has been a gap of several months since I last shared ideas in the form of a blog post on the topic of using iPods in Education. I

Mobile Learner Support Coordinating OU Mobile activities via the Learning Innovation Office « Scope of Mobile VLE project Updates - projects and course development Mobile VLE - a student survey is currently being reviewed by our SRPP team, and will hopefully be targetted initially at exisiting users of StudentHome mobile and our mobile learners to help shape the priorities for design work from summer onwards. Development work is already underway to ensure that VLE users on devices can interact better with text-based tools. The plan then is to get wider feedback on sample designs, possibly with student usability trials.

GPS Mission: For once a free, fun and working GPS game
Today I reviewed GPS Mission on the iPhone, which is a GPS-based user-powered mobile game. What is especially great about the software is that Germany-based developer Orbster GmbH took the time to support the iPhone 3G, Nokia Symbian and Windows Mobile phones and not only “one of the above”. The mobiles obviously do need GPS or an external GPS device (via Bluetooth). Once registered the user can access or create missions around his locations. For instance, I saw that someone created a photo safari around my town.
