Again blogging live, so excuse me for short sentences, mistypes. He will talk about strategy if you want to make native, or near to native applications. First: what role do these mobile phones play in your strategy? what is it aimed for? | MLEARNING IS GOOD JUNE 25, 2009 Mobile Augmented Reality – A Brief Overview Students can now use their mobile device as an interface to the virtual world while walking through the real world. A new “Mobile Augmented Reality Browser” called Layar captures the real world through the mobile device’s video capture capability and provides information about the objects through real-time searches and connections to social networks. GE recently launched a website to teach customers about its’ efforts in alternative energy. . The integration of innovative technology in learning has always been a goal of educators. For a demo, check out this video. | | | | | | | UPSIDE LEARNING SEPTEMBER 5, 2012 The Mobile Learning Ecosystem I – 10 Important Questions Mobile technology penetration is racing ahead in the corporate workplace, with the BYOD (bring your own device) movement affecting companies in varied ways. As discussed by Amit Garg in one of his previous posts 6 Drivers Of mLearning In The Workplace , there are a huge number of factors driving the adoption of mobile devices by individuals, and by companies in the workplace. | MOBLEARN JUNE 2, 2011 Use Smartphones in class, say school principals In the report, they deal head on with the challenges: The rapid growth in the use of social media and mobile devices has created both a crisis and an opportunity for school leaders. More importantly, as mobile devices become more powerful and more affordable, their potential for enhancing student learning has come into clearer focus. Recognizing the educational value of encouraging such behaviors, many school leaders have shifted their energies from limiting the use of these technologies to limiting their abuse. Very impressive! | IGNATIA WEBS NOVEMBER 9, 2012 South African #mLearning projects and calls for collaboration What he does is use Articulate Storyline to get a game together that is based on energy and learning outcomes. So sometimes if you choose to go for a mobile development option, it takes a lot of energy (energy level goes down), but if you finish it it can provide optimized learning results so the learning percentage goes up. Here are some ideas I encountered in South Africa. | THE MOBILE LEARNER AUGUST 7, 2009 Addressing Some Critiques of Mobile Learning Throughout the many posts on this blog, I have mainly focused on trends and ideas in how mobile devices can be integrated into teaching and learning. I figured that by posting ideas on how mobile devices can help students learn, it would encourage, rather than discourage, readers that the mobile devices we use everyday in our mobile lives have a place in classrooms too. One of the strongest criticisms about introducing cell phones in classrooms is that students use the devices to bully others or to organize fights via text messaging. Some call that cheating. | | | | | | | | | -

MLEARNING TRENDS | MONDAY, DECEMBER 27, 2010 2010: mLearning Year in Review Several more of the Tier 2/Tier 3 LMS vendors also “tossed their hat in the ring” (or towards it anyway) announcing some way of publishing content so it could appear via a mobile browser on the iPhones , iPads and Android device trying to capture a few of their most “loyal fans” in learning land. From our own experience, enterprise mLearning engagements were more complex and multi-faceted given the fact the average deployment was bigger, more varied in terms of content and devices supported, and customer/partner expectations were far higher. MOBLEARN | FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 28, 2012 Open Standards for m-learning? The first step is to clarify exactly where you want to sit on the "native app, one device" "simple media, all devices" spectrum. In our work we found huge benefits in making content as richly interactive as possible, so we have narrowed our focus to high-end devices only (smartphones, tablets, wifi devices), but because we invest a lot of our energy into the media quality, it is essential to us that it travels well between Android - iOS - Windows Phone - others We have put ourselves here (see image above). If I build for an iPhone, what about Android? MORE >> -
IGNATIA WEBS | FRIDAY, JANUARY 28, 2011 html5 is growing, and this looks like a good e/mLearning solution They have focused their recent energy on coming up with an authoring tool that allows instructional designers to deliver content across multiple devices while keeping the same content logic, though formatting the content towards the device that is connecting to that content. For those of you who want to take a look at the Rapid Intake mLearning studio, or Rapid Mobile, feel free to take a look at a course example and how it tailors itself to the device that is connecting to it. The tool uses html5 whenever a mobile device connects to the content. MORE >> -
MOBILE LEARNING | SUNDAY, JANUARY 31, 2010 Report: Sydney AUC iPhone SDK Workshop Amongst the many ideas for content delivery we have been investigating iTunesU and the use of iPod Touch and iPhone devices for accessing content on-campus (or at home) for later review and reflection. First class training begins with first class trainers, and Nick’s ascendancy into the realms of Apple itself provides some indication of his energy, enthusiasm and talent in iPhone development. There has been considerable activity at the University of Canberra with the implementation of Apple-based systems for supporting teaching and learning. MORE >>
