As mentioned before, since streaming video is not playable on a mobile device you will want to add any alternate mobile content for the course here. DevelopmentStreaming video is for videos that have been placed on a streaming server. The reason for doing this is to limit the amount of lag time on the video. | UPSIDE LEARNING APRIL 14, 2011 Developing Mobile Learning: Which Device Are Your Targeting? When you are getting started with mobile learning one of the decision you’ll have to make is which device(s) to target. Fragmented market and no real common development platform make this a serious hindrance to mobile learning adoption. iPhone will not be THE device to target. Mobile Learning Developing Mobile Learning mLearning Mobile Learning Technology Mobile OS SalesIn a SWOT Analysis of Mobile Learning we posted earlier this week, we listed this as one of the weaknesses of mobile learning as it stands today. There’s Apple and their iOS platform and there are the other devices that use Android. Let me provide a little context. | | MLEARNOPEDIA DELICIOUS FEBRUARY 22, 2010 SCORM Implementation For Mobile Devices Recently we’ve made the UpsideLMS compatible to mobile devices and also launched a new version – UpsideLMS Version 4.0. While ensuring compliance, we encountered some interesting issues in the implementation of SCORM and found very little help online about implementing SCORM for mobile devices. Mobile devices have limitations: - Screen size. Each mobile device has different configurations and it is always better to identify the device requesting content before rendering the HTML content. Have you tried to get SCORM working on mobile devices? They are good to consider when taking on that app development assignment. Unlike other software applications, companies cannot spend months on development and deployment, speed is of the essence. This can easily accomplished with a simple interface to the system. | | | | | | | | | -
MOBLEARN | THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 2010 Apple announcement is excellent news for cross-platform app developers! The big news of the moment amongst App developers, is the surprise announcement by Apple that they are relaxing some key restrictions on how Apps can be made. In particular they say: …we are relaxing all restrictions on the development tools used to create iOS apps, as long as the resulting apps do not download any code. This should give developers the flexibility they want, while preserving the security we need. As one of a small (but enthusiastic) set of app developers striving to make cross-platform apps, this is a HUGE deal. They all use different languages. MORE >> -
IGNATIA WEBS | THURSDAY, APRIL 19, 2012 #ict4d challenges to deliver sustainable #mLearning in developing regions to really engage in meaningful education through mobile devices (if such is possible), all the while allowing both local (not localized) and really contextual pedagogies (based on pedagogies that are meaningful within the culture in which education will take place) to be developed, leading towards meaningful education through the use of mobile devices (or any ubiquitous technologies). The video below is provided by the University of Kwazulu-Natal , the recording can be downloaded from their seminar website here. and so on. MORE >> -
IGNATIA WEBS | SUNDAY, JUNE 27, 2010 What to take into account when chosing a mobile device for learning? The amount of features you want to use will also allow you to purchase a low or high cost smartphone or mobile device. First of all if you are a tech savvy person you could go for a less expensive device which has all the options of the iPhone and more, for the iPhone costs a lot, yet is similar to many other mobile phones that are cheaper. The same is true for PDA's, with these types of mobile devices you have a range of possibilities, but not the phone possibilities, this again decreases the cost. What can you opt for in a high-end phone or mobile device? MORE >> -
THE MOBILE LEARNER | MONDAY, APRIL 19, 2010 Mobile Devices as Musical Devices Using an iPhone as a musical device is an interesting application of a cell phone. While known as a music player designed to allow users to consume music, developers have created apps that can transform the iPhone into a musical device to create music as well. This, however, is not the only way to use an iPhone as a musical device. The video below profiles experiments being conducted at Stanford University in using a mobile device such as an iPhone/iPod Touch to create a mobile phone orchestra. MORE >> -

This morning Adobe stated that it will no longer develop the Flash player for mobile devices in favor of throwing their support behind HTML5 development.
