ELI 2010 Spring Focus Session on Mobile Learning - portfolio
Most places to date are concentrating on the infrastructure needed to support and develop mobile applications. App development is focusing on apps that support the student in non-academic ways, such as maps, class scheduling, and so on. This is just a brainstorm list - theres more that must happen here, or course. Categories : Professional Development , Travel Tags : elaboration portfolio Brett Bixlers online professional portfolio. Celtx a free and open source software for developing eLearning storyboards
The storyboard is useful to: make sure you cover all the learning objectives, test the continuity of the story/narrative you use to enlighten your learners keep the team of developers informed of their expected input and when their input is due. Basic mLearning with BlackBerries
Go to the BlackBerry Development Tools and Downloads page and click Download the BlackBerry Device Simulators . Go back to the BlackBerry Development Tools and Downloads page and click Download the BlackBerry Email and MDS Services Simulator Package . You can browse web sites now, so you’re ready to start developing content. I’ve spent the past few weeks figuring out how to design and deploy content that can be accessed on BlackBerry phones. Design Considerations
These days I don't seem to find much time to develop actual mobile learning other than to create examples when testing various tools, but I do like to read Tom Kuhlmann's rapid e-Learning blog on development. This week his excellent description of push and pull e-learning fits right into mobile learning development. "By Tags: example blog development desig By changing the way you structure the information, you can quickly build the framework for more engaging and interactive courses. It’s just a matter of rethinking how you approach the course design.

How do develop web content on the iPhone
Mobile modules will be developed that offer lifelong learning to physicians working on HIV/AIDS. So along the way I will give feedback on the hurdles we take during the development of these courses. The first hurdle: developing web content on the iPhone A great resource of how you can tackle this is this blogpost (first part) and this one (second part) of the fabulous Soulsoup blog with Anol Bhattacharya who works as COO at getIT in Singapore. The next couple of months I will be working with colleagues from Peru (Luis Fucai, Ellar Llacsahuanga and Carlos Kiyan) on a mobile learning project (funded by the Reach initiative , Tibotec grant) that involves iphone's and NokiaN95's for physicians in Peru.

mobile projects and crowdsourcing in developing countries
Thanks to Ellen Trude (blogging in German) , I got hold of this 38 minute video on mobile phone use in developing countries (focusing in this video on the sub-Saharan part of Africa). Some interesting facts from the movie: Developing world uses 59% of the cell phones in comparison to 41% in the developed world. There is a ubiquity to using mobile phones and if the users are more aware If you are into mobile applications, this is worth watching. Nathan Eagle (MIT) teaches computer scientists in Africa how to program mobile phones at first, but is now involved in mobile
