What might mobile media afford education? « David Gagnon
8221; This little part of the near-west side at one time had a rich irish community, but do to the construction of a hospital and other city planning, the tight community was replaced with parking lots and random storefronts. Critical pedagogy: people can learn, but that does not make them philanthropists
Mainly the statement that the increased pressure of corporations that indirectly forces (well, force is of course only powerful if you acknowledge it) universities and colleges to push all students more in the direction of workers, instead of becoming citizens in the first place. Creating critical people does not necessarily mean all citizens will follow the same set of moral rules, but it might build people that know how to construct long term visions. Social media helps us all to connect, we all learn at an increased pace, both in educational institutions, in our professional organizations/companies and just for ourselves.

Using Animoto to create short videos for mobile
Here’s a demonstration of what is produced - this example was put together on-the-fly at a live event, so it’s a good example of what can be done in very little time and without much effort: - a video of photos from the E-Learning 07 event held earlier this year at the University of NSW, created by Jo Kay :
(Alternate Imagine a construction student tasked with creating an item for their e-portfolio, or to start off a class presentation. Animoto is an online site that will automatically analyse your images and music, and then composite them for you into a dynamic video with professional transitions and effects.

Obama Mobile is Going to Get Out the Vote
In 2006, Mobile Commons’ platform was used in a study conducted by the New Voter’s Project, Princeton, and the University of Michigan . The Obama Campaign realized this and constructed the VP announcement to help them build critical mass with their mobile list.
There’s been good coverage of Obama’s Vice Presidential announcement all over the web (particularly GigaOM and the NY Times ). While there has been some grumbling about the announcement coming a little late because CNN got the scoop, overall the Obama campaign is being lauded for their marketing

#ela2009 workshop George Siemens: social networking technologies for teaching and learning transformation
One of the workshops in eLearning Africa 2009 was lead by George Siemens , a Canadian from the Manitoba University who was one of the organisers of the CKK08 massive course in 2008 in which I participated my two cents . The great thing about these slides is that it gives you a holistic approach of what learning embraces: experimenting, gossip, collaboration, debating, constructing ideas ... He is always a source of innovative ideas. It comprises a lot of names from the educational realm, so if you are interested in pedagogy, you want to look for new (or I like to see them as
