Of interest also is what HP releases in the way of a ‘PalmPad’ tablet that will run the WebOS they bought along with Palm. iBrainstorm allows other devices (iPhones or iPod touches as you’d expect from this platform) to connect via bluetooth and create their own sticky-notes which can be passed to the main iPad with a flick of the finger. Ok, so enough about the hype of devices. | | MLEARNOPEDIA DELICIOUS OCTOBER 13, 2009 Learning in Hand Blog by Tony Vincent was lucky enough to have Palm computers for my fifth grade students in 2001. As a teacher, I tried hard to use the handhelds in my classroom as creatively as possible. We had about 50 apps we used on the Palms. Even with thousands of Palm apps, it was sometimes hard to find or adapt apps to move beyond drill and practice. My favorite handheld today is the iPod touch. It’s amazing to compare the number of iPod touch and iPhone apps to the number of apps for the Palm Operating System. You can also save screenshots of what’s on your iPod’s screen. In my mind this only begs the question, "What are the implications for current students sitting in our high school classrooms?" Unsurprisingly, every incoming student accepted one or the other, with about 36% choosing a iPod touch over an iPhone. Making this web-based meant existing security measures stayed in place, and students without iPhones/iPod touches had equal access.
