It was never our attention to develop a Moodle/iPhone/iPod solution from the start. But as we got feedback from the HCWs in the field, we saw the need to adapt Moodle to enable complete access for the iPhone. All along people tested the web application. | IGNATIA WEBS MARCH 22, 2010 iPhone/iPod/Moode: one click to Moodle button Some of our volunteer testers of the iPhone/iPod/Moodle web-application have indicated that they struggled a bit with having to login again each time they went out of the application. The team has enabled easy access by offering a 'home button' that can be put on your iPhone/iPod screen and with which you can simply login with one click. Hope this helps! | | | | | | | UPSIDE LEARNING JUNE 24, 2010 IPhone- User Interface Guidelines- Part I The iPhone’s revolutionary user interface has changed the way we look at mobile devices. The iPhone SDK let’s you create native applications for the device. The document is divided into two parts: Planning Your iPhone Software Product : Covers types of applications, fundamental human interface design principles and the iPhone OS environment. E.g. Mail. | IGNATIA WEBS FEBRUARY 25, 2010 Yes, mobile moodle for iPhone is eminent, we will release open source code soon the Institute of Tropical Medicine Alexander von Humboldt (IMTAvH) in Lima and the Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITM) in Antwerp) was working on something special: a mobile moodle for iPhone. They got hold (after politely being given the permission) of the WPtouch for iPhone code by Dale Mugford of Bravenewcode. And now we are at the brink of releasing the code. How did they do it? | UPSIDE LEARNING AUGUST 20, 2010 Training Plan For iPhone Application Development Right now, everyone wants to develop applications for mobile devices and in particular for the iPhone, as it has changed the way we look at mobile devices. There is lots of material available about iPhone development on the web but very little about how to go about it. While working on IPhone development I have collected some links and we thought of creating a training plan for iPhone development for other Upsiders. The training plan below, assumes that you'll have the following skills to speed your iPhone development: Knowledge of C/C++/Java. Topic. | UPSIDE LEARNING JULY 7, 2010 IPhone- User Interface Guidelines – Part II I have already covered the types of applications, fundamental human interface design principles and the iPhone OS environment in my first post of this series. In this article and the next, I will try to summarize the various components available for developing the user interface of your iPhone application. It is at the top of the application hierarchy. | | | | | | | | | -
IGNATIA WEBS | THURSDAY, MARCH 4, 2010 iPhone on Moodle update: a growing team, but where is Apple? The iPhone on Moodle project I mentioned last week is speeding up and when listening to the Moodle/ iPhone buzz, the momentum is growing. In addition to our Peruvian/Belgian team my colleague Carlos Kiyan (a formidable networker) has persuaded a couple of Moodle/ iPhone guru's to jump on board of the project team: 1.Lewis Carr- United Kingdom [link] 2.Hiroki Inoue-Japan [link] 3.Julian Ridden-Australia [link] So a BIG HOORAY and thank you to all of them!! For those of you interested in some screenshots of the iPhone/Moodle application , please have a look here. MORE >> -
UPSIDE LEARNING | THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 2010 Will Mobile Apps Change Training Forever? think mobile applications are the game changer for training. Today there are hundreds of apps for education available on the Apple Appstore – here’s a big list of iPhone apps for education. Tags: Mobile Learning Training Companies mLearning Mobile Applications Mobile Apps Training Technology around us is evolving at a rapid pace and is in turn affecting a speedy evolution of learning technology. Work is changing and, to keep pace with it, training is changing too. Which of these technology changes will impact training the most? Let me explain why I think that way. MORE >> -
IGNATIA WEBS | MONDAY, FEBRUARY 2, 2009 the mobile project update 1: html + mp4 + mobile moodle The models we aim for are currently iPhone 3G, Nokia N95 and HTC TyTn. We have been dabbling with some applications, but let's face it, going back to basics normally gives the best result. Tags: mobile mobile learning iphone coding As I started writing the previous week , we are working on a mobile module that is accessible by a lot of (I know it is vague for now, but I will make it more substantial soon) mobile devices. HTML has been around for a longtime and it is the easiest language out there to code in (I think). what more would one want? It really looks nice. MORE >> -
THE MOBILE LEARNER | MONDAY, JUNE 29, 2009 iPods in Education Part 12: Customized Learning Using Apps While the introduction of the iPhone and the iPod Touch has changed the rules in how handheld devices can be used in education, this series has laid dormant as I’ve been in the process of catching up with the technology. As I did not own neither an iPod Touch nor an iPhone, I didn’t feel confident that I could confidently discuss the benefits of using such devices in education. However, there are two main differences in a classic iPod and an iPod Touch/ iPhone: the ability to engage in two-way interaction and customizability. That is, until now. MORE >> -
MOBLEARN | THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 2010 Apple announcement is excellent news for cross-platform app developers! Those are the app developers using one of a few choice systems (many open source, collaborative frameworks) that allow you to code once, and deploy to iPhone, Android, WinMob, Blackberry …. And an increasing number of them started getting refused across all of the frameworks The fundamental technical problem is that it is not possible to write one piece of native software that plays on iPhone, Android, WinMob, etc. But it does support more phones ( iPhone, Windows Mobile, RIM, Symbian and Android) These three are the main players. On iPhone and Android, it uses Webkit. MORE >>
