the Institute of Tropical Medicine Alexander von Humboldt (IMTAvH) in Lima and the Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITM) in Antwerp) was working on something special: a mobile moodle for iPhone. In 2008, our Peruvian/Belgian team won the Tibotec Reach Initiatives grant , which allowed us to start looking at solutions to get two types of smartphones (iPhone and NokiaN95) linked up with the mobile moodle learning platform. For those who have been following my mobile blogs, you knew our great Peru/Belgian team (i.e. We started out rather basic, you can read about the first steps

the mobile project update 1: html + mp4 + mobile moodle
As I started writing the previous week , we are working on a mobile module that is accessible by a lot of (I know it is vague for now, but I will make it more substantial soon) mobile devices. The models we aim for are currently iPhone 3G, Nokia N95 and HTC TyTn. We have been dabbling with some applications, but let's face it, going back to basics normally gives the best result. It might not be sounding sexy, but it does deliver all: the HTML + CSS + mp4 set will be our main coding set for the mobile modules we are planning to give. HTML has been around for a longtime and

E-learning in the Mobile World and the Right Business Model to Deliver It
I think it is safe to say that for most of us the personal computer is the first place we go when we are looking for web-based information; however, new web-ready mobile devices are emerging with increased speed and are blurring the line of what traditionally constitutes a viable endpoint for digital content. As the computing power of mobile devices improves and they become more affordable, the demand for content that works well on these platforms continues to grow. Have you seen the new Verizon netbook ? Is it a laptop, a souped-up PDA?

Apple Mobile Learning Roadshow
The device was pre-loaded with a number of “apps” (applications/software) that supported learning, most of which were “connected” (i.e. However, in my original evaluation of the iPod Touch (written a full year before the Apps store was released), I was dissatisfied with the device’s lack of certain content creation tools (camera or audio recorder, for example) and its closed proprietary architecture.
I attended the Apple Mobile Learning Roadshow last week, held at Sydney’s Maritime Museum; and I know other M-Learning bloggers will be interested to hear about this event.

iPods in Education Part 12: Customized Learning Using Apps
While the introduction of the iPhone and the iPod Touch has changed the rules in how handheld devices can be used in education, this series has laid dormant as I’ve been in the process of catching up with the technology. As I did not own neither an iPod Touch nor an iPhone, I didn’t feel confident that I could confidently discuss the benefits of using such devices in education.
There has been a gap of several months since I last shared ideas in the form of a blog post on the topic of using iPods in Education. I

LogMeIn Ignition for iPhone/iPod touch
Today, TUAW posted an article about LogMeIn's acceptance of applications for the private beta of LogMeIn Ignition for iPhone/iPod touch, the mobile client version of the remote control platform. TUAW suggests that while there are great IT admin tools for other mobile platforms (and some promising but never-completed iPhone tools), the iPhone admin explosion hasn’t quite arrived yet. With a final release planned for the end of the year, the client will allow full remote control of any computer in your list, including screen blanking and zoom/pan options.
