What to take into account when chosing a mobile device for learning?
If you do not want to pay the cost of an iPhone, you can also go for an iPod Touch, which is much cheaper and offers all the iPhone options, except phone possibilities (but the phone possibilities are not essential for mobile learning). Choosing the best phone for mobile learning can be quite a challenge. Or is it of interest to you?

Apple has just announced the iPod Touch, which is just like a slightly thinner iPhone. It has the same touch screen, the same apps, the same Touch OS X operating system, WiFi and a Safari browser. Apple haven't opened the OS up for us developers to write but without the phone.

iPhone 4 – not much for educators? (updated)
While I wait for a decent Android tablet to ship (be it iPod touch or iPad sized), I’ll instead post here about the just released info on the iPhone 4 and its OS (iOS4). Well because in my state alone there are many many schools using the iPod touch to enhance learning.

Personalising Learning with the iPod Touch
The gen 1 iPod touch devices are now one year old. We have had two new students arrive in our class in the last month or so, both requiring an iPod touch to ensure the ubiquitous access that is essential to this project. This iPod will remain in Shepparton and be restored and deployed to our newest student.
