To further reinforce that thought, Adobe announced just yesterday that it has ceased development on the Flash mobile browser plug-in. First, it seems Adobe is continuing development on the Flash plug-in and AIR runtime. Will Adobe come out with something that is geared towards HTML5 authoring that completely replaces Flash for web animation and interaction. As I continually survey the mobile technology landscape, I try to predict what learning will look like in 1, 2 or 5 years. However, my focus as a developer working for a corporation is enterprise learning and I wonder if apps will be big in the corporate learning space. That it's old technology. Is HTML5 the best technology for cross-platform mobile development? If we have to go back to testing everything we create in every single browser for compatibility we've rolled back development efficiency at least 10 years. Flash will continue to be a strong player because you can develop once and know that it will work the same on PCs, Macs, in pretty much any browser with relatively very little testing required. That's what is happening to the Flash technology. That HTML5 is the ultimate replacement. Come on! Give me a break! MORE >>
