MLEARNOPEDIA DELICIOUS | MONDAY, AUGUST 24, 2009 Five Myths of Mobile Learning I’ll be the first to admit there is always an element of truth behind myths; but with the rate of technological change, quite a few of those ‘truths’ would seem like falsehoods today. Additionally, corporates across the world have taken to mobile technologies in a big way. However, if learners are distracted I’d rather blame the learning activities and content and not the technology or device itself. These factors contribute to increased technology availability and subsequent adoption. Mobile content is expensive! How do you respond? MORE >> -
MLEARNING IS GOOD | SUNDAY, MARCH 14, 2010 A Seamless Learning Approach with Mobile Learning I recently got my hands on an article called “Leveraging Mobile Technology for Sustainable Seamless Learning: A Research Agenda , in the British Journal of Educational Technology. Students performed several activities, one noted in the article was a visit to a grocery store where they observed things like the use of plastic bags and even interviewed customers about their habits regarding the 3Rs. It’s important to note that the students were able to interact with learning materials and collaborate both with mobile technology and desktop computer technology. MORE >> -
MOBILE LEARNING | WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 5, 2007 Why Does Technology-Based Teaching Fail? Recently, I’ve been sharing some of my research into the pioneering educational technology work of Alan Kay, who was able to effectively translate his understanding of cognitive psychology and learning theory into new ideas for making computers easy to learn - and learn on. His insights into educational technology continue to be highly relevant today - here he is in 1987, answering the question “Computers have not been a big success in … computer-aided instruction. Why is this so, and what can be done to improve it?. Alternate link: [link]. Hosted by Edublogs MORE >> -

Far better, perhaps, to watch the lecture recorded before you come into class, and then spend the face-to-face time discussing it, asking questions, doing activities. Just google " coding for kids " for a fantastic selection of them verdict : If we truly want our kids to be in control of technology (and not the other way around), support your local coding for kids initiative! IGNATIA WEBS | WEDNESDAY, JUNE 2, 2010 Ethics, technology and learning Becta in the United Kingdom Becta is the government agency leading the national drive to ensure the effective and innovative use of technology throughout learning. They produced an amazing amount of publication , accessible to all and tackling technology/learning issues that matter to many of us. Why can the military achieve what civil society cannot In the last weeks I had the pleasure of meeting people actively involved in training soldiers. Why is it still about technology and not about learning? And indeed learning results are what count, not the technology. MORE >>
