| Page 1 of 2 | Previous | Next | MLEARNING IS GOOD JANUARY 31, 2010 New Report Reinforces Mobile Learning is Best as Performance Support The study was very insightful, and the findings support the notion that m-Learning is currently best consumed in the form of performance support material. However, this study does point to mobile performance support, delivering context relevant content quickly and efficiently as a major enabler for productivity. Here are some main highlights: “surveyed 400 employees about their use of mobile devices to access company information. The article is in the January 2010 Issue of Training and Development Magazine. It was $10 to download. | | | | | | | | MLEARNOPEDIA ON BLOGSPOT JANUARY 10, 2010 2010 Forecasts I intended to write a blog entry in late December with my predictions for mobile learning in 2010, but somehow never found the time. Mobile devices have certainly come into their own with champions and examples everywhere. In fact, Tech Crunch 's Ten Technologies That Will Rock 2010 , over half of them are mobile. Bottom line today is that the questions are no longer "why?" | UPSIDE LEARNING DECEMBER 9, 2010 Three Ways to Use Mobile Devices in Workplace Learning m of the opinion that there are 3 primary types of usage for mobile devices in the context of learning. Mobile devices are perfect to add to a blend in your training program. Mobile device based follow-up could increase retention and aid application of knowledge and skills. Device to Access Information. Performance Support Agents. Used as a Part of the Blend. | MOBILE LEARNING EDGE DECEMBER 14, 2010 Putting Handheld Devices to Work in Mobile Learning In his blog post from last week, Amit Carg, an eLearning professional and co-founder of Upside Learning , a learning solutions firm, identified three essential ways mobile devices can assist with the continued education of employees: 1. As performance support agents. Micro-blogging and social media on mobile devices. Performance support and coaching. Augmented Reality. | IGNATIA WEBS JUNE 16, 2010 Richard Clark: mLearning on multiple devices: a practical guide at mLearnCon how do you support it? Key questions to ask: comfort level with technology, approach (direct instruction (not really great learning, dixit Richard, for mobile learning), performance support, gateway to existing), online versus offline (sync issues), range of devices (take into account the lowest version of the operating systems), fidelity to device conventions. | | | | | | | | | -
MLEARNING TRENDS | MONDAY, DECEMBER 27, 2010 2010: mLearning Year in Review How our January 2010 Predictions Played Out! As we reach the first anniversary of this blog’s introduction, we thought we’d take stock and figure out how things are going by revisiting our list of predictions for enterprise mobile learning in 2010. So here’s the tally for "runs batted in (or attempted)" during the 2010 mLearning season. Mobile Learning and Social Networking each attained much higher hype levels across the Training & Development during the 2010 “season” and both concepts were featured topics in articles and conference sessions alike. THE MOBILE LEARNER | FRIDAY, JUNE 11, 2010 On Five Difficulties in Mobile Learning Implementation One cannot successfully implement the use of mobile devices for learning in schools without reflecting on the difficulties associated with this form of learning. It’s no secret that supporting a mobile device is expensive. Regardless of the device, mobile learning involves an added cost and while the school can support some of the burden, often this burden is left to parents. I’m all for the use of mobile electronic devices for learning. Then there is the issue of students using devices for activities other than learning. Books. MORE >> -
MLEARNING TRENDS | MONDAY, JANUARY 4, 2010 mLearning Presentations using Google Docs In general, you can create slides with text and simple images but there's no support for any sort of animations, transitions or slide builds (popular in enterprise mlearning). Google Doc presentations can't include any sort of embedded media files though embedded links are supported. But until HTML5 gets out there and grows popular, linking people to rich media files and expecting acceptable cross- device performance is not a reality. NOTE: While I didn't test it on a Palm Pre, I'd expect it works better there (similar to an Android device)]. MORE >> -
UPSIDE LEARNING | THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 2010 Will Mobile Apps Change Training Forever? With the availability of just-in-time access to information through mobile computing devices (including tablets ) the notion of knowledge (sometimes a.k.a. For me, it shifts the focus from ‘Training’ to ‘Performance Support’. In my interactions with various business owners & training managers I’ve found a performance support initiative gets the management nod more easily as compared to a training initiative. Evidently, the management believes the advantage of a performance support initiative is immediate, and promises better ROI. Why Mobile? Why Apps? MORE >> -
MLEARNOPEDIA DELICIOUS | MONDAY, FEBRUARY 22, 2010 SCORM Implementation For Mobile Devices Recently we’ve made the UpsideLMS compatible to mobile devices and also launched a new version – UpsideLMS Version 4.0. While ensuring compliance, we encountered some interesting issues in the implementation of SCORM and found very little help online about implementing SCORM for mobile devices. Mobile devices have limitations: - Screen size. Mobile browsers now almost fully support JavaScript and this makes it possible to implement SCORM using JS support. For identifying devices we used the information in request headers. operamini-phone-ua. MORE >>
