Create a free SMS auto-reply learning tool
Some educators have used StudyTXT to provide brief revision “flash cards” or notes for their students on-demand; but I can also see the possibility for this kind of system to be used to play educational games or mobile quizzes.
Ethan is an science teacher who has set up an SMS game for his students. He begins the game by I’ve previously blogged about StudyTXT , a system deployed at a number of New Zealand educational institutions (to whom it is available for free), which allows students to send an SMS and receive on-demand learning and support information on their mobile phones.

Mobile Learning in India
According to TRAI, there are 286 million wireless subscribers in India, June 2008, of which 76 million were capable of accessing data services . There are also innovative games based around SMS that have strong learning potential.
There is a definite appeal in gaming for learning using mobile phones. Six in ten people (more than 4 billion individuals) around the world are carrying a powerful computing device in their pockets and purses. They don’t realize it, but today’s mobile phones have the computing power of a personal computer from the mid-nineties, while consuming

ASTD's Big Question for December 2008: New Learning
The ASTD Big question this month is What did you learn about learning in 2008? The powerful little computer literally has dozens and dozens of games that teach every thing from Spanish to French to Problem-Solving and even how to cook. These games, are all designed by many different organizations but all have elements that can be easily applied to mobile learning designs. I learn so much all the time from students, clients and colleagues, it is hard to narrow it down to just two or three things, but I'll try. Here are a few of the lessons I have learned.

Obama Mobile is Going to Get Out the Vote
Most elections are won by narrow margins and the game is finding the right population to help you swing the election. There’s been good coverage of Obama’s Vice Presidential announcement all over the web (particularly GigaOM and the NY Times ). While there has been some grumbling about the announcement coming a little late because CNN got the scoop, overall the Obama campaign is being lauded for their marketing savvy.

Ideas on how to teach young children cell phone etiquette/safety
I propose that we be more proactive and start before they get a cell phone, similar to driving a car (we learn the rules of the road before we start driving) or playing a game (we read the instructions before we start playing). I decided to write this blog because we seem to be ignoring some important statistics when it comes to cell phones and young children. According to the Yankee Group (2006) survey by 2010 54% of tweens ages 8-12 will have a cell phone.
