mLearn08: MiLK: students building mobile learning games in higher education by Debra Polson
She showed showcases of custom mobile games. Debra motivates students to develop mobile games and they love it! Students wanted to create GREAT games, because their peers would play the game and give feedback on it. Debra Polson is a very enthusiastic speaker. All of the examples are about Fun first, then Educational.

I am going to deviate from my typical topic of conversation to share some experiences, reflections and conversations I have had of late concerning the use of interactive gaming in learning. NASA goes MMO
NASA wants to start a MMO ( Massive Multiplayer Online game ) as an educational game. At our institute we are working on a game that involves HIV/AIDS, but I will keep you informed on this one as we proceed with our plans This certainly goes towards a full laboratory simulation if you ask me. You've gotta love this idea!

Reflections on the 2008 RCAC Symposium
I was fortunate enough to attend another education technology conference in 2008 and this conference was the Western RCAC symposium held in London, Ontario on December 11th. When we buy a new TV, we are shopping for the creative experiences presented by visual artists - kids are doing the same thing when they are shopping for video games.

Strengthen Vocabulary Learning with Gaming and Text Messaging!
Jumbli asks viewers (anyone can play it is free) to participate in a game of super-scrabble. The game lasts a few minutes (great for an activity after a test or quiz to keep students learning but not bothering others). When the game is over (it starts and stops continiously) the winning words will appear.

mLearn08: keynote Diane Laurillard on mobile learning methods

It has been a while since I added a blogpost, but it was quite hectic the last two weeks. mLearn08 started which resulted in a lot of extra knowledge. She is a renowned researcher. Obama Mobile is Going to Get Out the Vote
