What might mobile media afford education? « David Gagnon
What’s interesting is that the new breed of mobile devices not only offer new affordances such as location services and multi-touch interfaces, but they also are capable of containing things we are used to such as web browsers, podcasts, text and animation. This is an exciting way to look at the mobile devices because it allows the senses and expertise of the user be magnified, giving them a very useful tool in the field. Mobile Learning « David Gagnon
I really believe that as much as personal computing has changed our world, as much as the networking of digital devices have changed our lives, mobile, hyper-personal networked devices are going to to bring us around to a post Gutenberg scenario that no one can imagine. The Genie in the Bottle: Unleashing the hidden power of personal mobile devices for learning (November 2009)
ABSTRACT: Since July 2007 there have been more mobile phones in operation in Australia than there are people ; and when you add in the other mobile, digital devices that ordinary Australians own – such as media players, digital cameras, and portable computing devices – it is apparent that there are tremendous tools for personal and lifelong learning in the pockets of our students. Unfortunately, there is an equally enormous mental rift between the way these devices are perceived by most users (who usually view these devices as being for entertainment or personal

Waiting for the iPhone Over
Yes, I was one of the "crazies" in line on Friday for the iPhone. Over the weekend I experimented with the new device and for the most part do like what I see. I did get one, plus something I didn't want -- a bad sunburn (despite use of sun cream and an umbrella.)
Over However, missing for corporate adoption is integration with Exchange, and alternate activation options than through iTunes which most

Learning in Hand Blog by Tony Vincent
It’s amazing to compare the number of iPod touch and iPhone apps to the number of apps for the Palm Operating System. Ten years after the launch of the Palm OS, we have 30,000 apps for Palm devices.
