Liveblogging from mLearn12: learning analytics in mobile and pervasive learning environments Naif Aljohani Clean nice suit, glasses and linking to other researchers to anchor it into existing research and adding his ideas. Despite many difficulties in its widespread implementation, it has proved to be a very useful way to support failing learners. Therefore, this paper describes the potential advantages of using LA techniques to enhance learning in mobile and ubiquitous learning environments from a theoretical perspective. A big issue with learner analytics is privacy of the data.

Burt "people who live in the intersection of social worlds are at higher risk of having good ideas" (2005, p. Terry Anderson speaks on the subject of Living, Learning, and Researching in a Networked Era. His focus is on openness as a scholar and the evolution of different learning approaches over the last few decades related to this openness. It was an interesting presentation, also of interest from a MOOC perspective. Each types of learning has its own benefit, so one should be open in any debate with people with different preferences. Questions are still out there: are they useful?

Computers aren’t so special anymore, but the kids may be better off: An introduction to mobile ‘appliance computing’ in Queensland schools
While some teachers in Queensland participated in a small PDA (personal digital assistant) trial in 2005, and others purchased small numbers of Nintendo DS handhelds, it has really been the release of the iPod touch (and then iPad), as well as the introduction of the XO mini-laptop program from One Laptop per Child Australia (OLPC), that has boosted the numbers of devices in schools. A strong case can be made that a revolution is underway in how computers are being perceived and used in schools across the world. How do we know this? Figures from analyst house Telsyte show that 1.4 phone?

Blog philosophy taken lightly: blogging is competitive – easy guidelines for quick importance
    • Using widgets : since 2005 you have been using widgets (of course). There is some strange behaviour when it comes to blogging (or any ICT use for that matter). People tend to add significant data or information to be taken seriously. Because everybody can use easy guidelines to enhance ones status, I have jotted some of them down here: • Started blogging : if ever you need to address the moment you started blogging, you need to say 19XX. This is very important (if you only started in 20XX just think of your dairy days and add that date, but be sure not to go back to far!)
