One Laptop per Child Australia ‘flips’ the ICT in education deployment model
(Disclosure: Assisting OLPC Australia to support schools has been one of my primary employment duties since mid-2009). Full PDF with higher res figures can be downloaded HERE ). There has been a new buzz word added to the education lexicon of late (as if one were needed) – the flipped classroom. This is an idea thats not so much brand new or revolutionary as it is one whose time has come.

Google’s Android Training Initiative – Will it boost mLearning?
On the 15th of December 2011, the Android Developer Relations team at Google launched the beta version of Android Training — a collection of classes to help developers build better Android apps using best practices in a variety of framework topics. This is a move in the right direction by Google, especially since many Smartphone users perceive Android apps to be inferior to Apple’s iOS.

iBooks 2 – Introducing the future textbook?
Today Apple released iBooks 2, a beautiful new format for interactive books that they hope to use to “re-invent the textbook”. Steve Jobs reportedly spent the last few years of his life planning to shake up the textbook market, and revitalise education. Today’s event in New York is the first education-only launch from Apple in a long time. Has Steve added to his legacy? They are expensive.

Future trends in #mobile technology what can we expect in the next 5, 10, 15 years #unesco_mlw
Keynote Paul Kim, Stanford University. Good talk, but a bit technology utopian. He focuses on success stories from his projects with children around the world while using mobile devices. He speaks with such enthusiasm, that he sounds like a promotional movie for mobile learning created at Stanford. Main idea: pedagogical paradigm shift, learning by students. a live blogpost, so excuse me for mistyping words etcetera). In the next 15 years, we will no longer have mobile phones, innovations evolve towards embedded technologies. If there is a competitive benefit, it is always temporarily.

Mobile Devices and the Flipped Classroom Model
Throughout this blog, we have always looked at the application of mobile devices in learning. I, for one, have always had the belief that mobile devices can be used to help student achieve in their learning because of the flexibility and access to content and collaboration tools that mobile devices allow. have always discussed the flexibility of digital devices as it related to both the consumption and production of content by both teachers and students. In the post, we will consider the use of mobile devices within the Flipped Classroom method.
